CAPA - Chid Abuse Prevention Association

The Child Abuse Prevention Association is a local non-profit organization that was founded in 1978.  CAPA's Closet and Treasures is just one of the programs that helps raise money for this very worthwhile cause.  The Thrift Store is located at 1340 Ribaut Road in Port Royal and accepts donations of new and gently used clothing and household items.  If someone has furniture or appliances (in good working order) to donate, CAPA will pick up the items by calling 843-524-0281and making an appointment.

The store is operated by volunteers that donate their time in the areas such as sorting, pricing, tagging, staging of items and also operating the sales register.  Those of us who volunteer at CAPA share a common desire to see that all children deserve to be loved, nurtured and kept safe from intentional and unintentional harm.

CAPA is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am till 5:30 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am till 3:00 pm.  All proceeds support the Open Arms Shelter and other CAPA programs.  The Open Arms Shelter is the only shelter for abused and neglected children serving, Beaufort, Jasper, Allendale, Colleton, and Hampton counties.  The shelter is open 365 days/year, 24 hours/day for youth ages 0 - 21 years.

For more information about CAPA's Closet or to VOLUNTEER, please call 843-524-0281.  Volunteers are greatly needed - so if you have a few spare hours, please stop by or call.
