Pet Locked In Car @ Festival

Fun turned to deep concern for a precious little dog left in a vehicle during the Port Royal Festival on Saturday.  As onlookers showed emotions from tears to prayers and anger, help was solicited from the Port Royal police.

The temperature outside was in the high 80's and the temperature in the vehicle was much hotter. The crowd grew in size as calls were placed to get help in locating the owner of the vehicle.  Finally a city worker and his wife made contact with police and the rescue came to an end once the owner was located.

The frustration of the onlookers was the result of so many warnings this past summer pertaining to leaving children and pets in hot vehicles.  Even if you leave the windows cracked it is not enough to keep temperatures from climbing higher very quickly.

This little dog was one of the lucky ones that survived.  So, please remember, the weather is still hot and not conducive to leaving pets or children inside vehicles.  Thanks to all of those who took part in the process of the rescue.
