Volunteering In The Low Country

If you have spare time on your hands, your help would be greatly appreciated by several organizations in the area.

HELP of Beaufort is seeking volunteers to help sort and hang donated clothing from 9:30 am till 12:30 pm Monday - Friday at 1910 Baggett Street in Beaufort and you can stop by or call 843-524-1223.  CAPA (Child Abuse Prevention Association) is a local non-profit organization that strives to break the destructive cycle of child abuse and neglect by equipping parents, children and their caregivers with necessary skills, knowledge and values.  Volunteers are needed at the CAPA'S Closet Thrift Store located on Ribaut Road in Port Royal Monday thru Saturday.

The Red Door Thrift Shop benefits Friends of Caroline Hospice.  They are looking for volunteers to assist the manager and assistant manager in the overall operations of the store.  Tasks include operating the cash register, sorting and pricing incoming merchandise and staging display areas.  Volunteers receive a 25% discount on items purchased.  Call 843-525-6257 for information or to volunteer.

As an avid animal lover, I love the TABBY HOUSE.  Volunteers are needed to help a few hours each week to clean the facility, feed and socialize with adoptable kittens and cats.  You may also assist adopters in selecting the right cat for their household and to complete the paperwork and reference checks for potential adopters.  Help is really needed in the afternoons and early evenings.  Call 843-842-4663 for more information.

Check with New2Beaufort for more information on various volunteering needs in the area.
