Did you know that there are fewer than 400 Drive In Theaters left in this country? Okay, some of you may not have had the opportunity to load up the car and experience this phenomena. If you grew up going to the Drive In back in the 50's and 60's, the Highway 21 Drive In, just outside of Beaufort, South Carolina, will let you step back in time. Relive the memories of a bygone era where speakers hooked on to the car windows and trips to the concession stand provided us with hot dogs, hamburgers, funnel cakes, cokes and sodas.
This blast from the past, to say the least, is nostalgic. Stuck in the 50's - not completely, because the movies have changed and the latest cinematic releases are for your viewing pleasure. Digital projectors and awesome audio bring movies into the present day while enjoying them from the comfort of your car. The sound of the movie can also be broadcast via your car radio.
There are two screens showing two movies each and usually show one set of movies for children and the other screen showing more adult movies.
Make time in your busy schedule to take in a movie at this family owned Drive In Theater. Every time I tell people that Beaufort has its own Drive In Theater the comments are always the same - "you are so lucky, wish there was one near us." A great idea for a night out with the family, for a date, or just a night out with a friend taking in an awesome movie.
